NORTH AMERICAN INTER-DISTRICT MEETING
“RACING TO BUILD A BETTER WORLD FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS”

The North American Inter-District Meeting is your opportunity to immerse yourself in Zonta education.  This weekend offers a variety of workshops presented by Zontians for Zontians.  The program includes an address from the Zonta International Board members and fellowship with Zontians across North America.  Be prepared to be inspired, to make new friends and reconnect with old friends, and to bring back to your club ideas for increasing your club’s impact in the community.


WORLD DAY AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS

Trafficking in persons is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights. Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad. Almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims.


INTERNATIONAL EQUAL PAY DAY

18 September 2023

Globally, women on average, are paid about 20% less than men. Established by the Equal Pay International Coalition in 2019, International Equal Pay Day is dedicated to raising awareness about unequal pay to women, pushing to close the gender pay gap and calling for actions to achieve pay equity globally.


INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL

Adolescent girls have the right to a safe, educated and healthy life, not only during these critical formative years, but also as they mature into women. The International Day of the Girl focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.


INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

The purpose of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is to raise awareness around the world that women are subjected to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence.

Human Rights Day commemorates the day in 1948 when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.


AMELIA EARHART MONTH

Each January, Zonta International celebrates the spirit and impact of legendary pilot Amelia Earhart, one of our most famous former members.

On Amelia Earhart Day, we commemorate the records she broke on this day in 1935 and celebrate her contributions to the aerospace industry and her empowerment of women in science.

The International Day of Education celebrates education’s role in peace and development. Zonta International believes that education is essential, especially for women and girls.


INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science was established in 2015 to help achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.


WORLD DAY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE

The World Day of Social Justice recognizes the need to promote social justice, which includes efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, gender inequality, human rights and more.


INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AND ZONTA ROSE DAY

Each year on 8 March, the global community celebrates International Women’s Day, recognizing women for their achievements regardless of national, ethnic, linguistic, economic or political divisions. The Zonta International community also celebrates Zonta Rose Day on 8 March, a time to reflect and give tribute to the women who have empowered us.
