Centretown’s Ottawa Little Theatre (OLT)’s first production of 2024 is an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Murder on the Orient Express.” The OLT is generously donating all proceeds from the preview matinee performance on Sunday, February 25, to the Zonta Club of Ottawa, Canada (ZCO). Zonta is a local, nonprofit volunteer organization that focuses on building a better world for women and girls.

Adapted by pre-eminent comedy playwright, Ken Ludwig, and directed by Venetia Lawless and Lindsay Laviolette, the play features a diabolical murder that takes place on the luxurious Orient Express. With a train full of suspects and an alibi for each one, it’s the perfect mystery for Agatha Christie’s legendary detective Hercule Poirot.

The proceeds from the preview performance will support the ZCO’s annual awards and bursaries program for high-school and post-secondary girls and women in the National Capital Region. The Club offers 8 different awards each spring. The awards provide financial assistance for awardees to pursue their studies in several fields, including business and STEM. They also provide financial recognition for outstanding commitment to public and humanitarian community service, as well as to the theatre arts. Two awards assist mature female undergraduate students who have had to interrupt their studies or formal education for medical, financial or other reasons, and are returning to complete their programs. Lastly, the Zonta Club of Ottawa offers an award to a new immigrant woman who is a single mother and is raising a family while working on her education at any level.

Come join us for this mysterious afternoon of theatre and support local girls and women in need!

Murder on the Orient Express’s preview performance will be presented at the Ottawa Little Theatre, 400 King Edward Avenue, at 2:30 pm, on Sunday, February 25. General admission tickets are $30.00. Tickets: www.bit.ly/ZCO-theatre-Feb2024
