Education is a human right. It has the power to save and improve the lives of women and girls, which leads to healthier families and stronger communities.
Zonta has a dedicated history in education. Since 1984, the Zonta Club of Ottawa has been providing bursaries and awards to promising young women in a variety of fields of study as well as recognizing community service.

ZCO CA 2025 Education Awards Program Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award: This $800 CAD award recognizes young women, ages 16-19, for demonstrating leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes. Our club’s awardee is eligible for consideration for an international scholarship worth USD $5,000. Deadline: March 15, 2025 Jean M. Coon Humanitarian Award: This $800 CAD award recognizes a high school student who demonstrates exceptional humanitarian community service. Our club’s awardee becomes a finalist for a District scholarship worth USD $1,000. Deadline: March 15, 2025 New Immigrant Woman Award: This $1,000 CAD award honours a newcomer who is a single mother, raising a family while working on her own education at any level. Zonta Women in Business Leadership Award: This $1000. CAD scholarship is awarded annually to a woman pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in business management at a university in the National Capital Region, and Kingston, Ontario. Our club’s awardee is eligible for consideration for an international scholarship worth USD $10,000. Deadline: July 25, 2025 Theatre Arts Award: A bursary of $2,000 CAD is awarded annually to women in the National Capital Region who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary theatre program. These awards enable talented and qualified young women to achieve their professional goals. Deadline: March 31, 2025. Zonta Women in STEM Award: This $1,000 CAD award is open to women, aged 18-35 years at the time of application, who demonstrate groundbreaking research, pioneering discoveries, and/or exemplary contributions to advancing knowledge and innovation in a science, technology, engineering or mathematic (STEM) field of study or industry. Our club’s awardee is eligible for consideration for an international scholarship worth USD $10,000.
